Microsoft Recruitment Eligibility Criteria 2025 :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,OR Python
- OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
Responsibilities of the Candidate:
- Work with other experienced Software Engineers, Product Managers, Designers and cross-functional teams to deliver high quality security solutions across platforms that ship to hundreds of millions of customers around the world.
- Design and develop large components with quality, performance, simplicity, durability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Contribute efforts to collect, classify, and analyze data to be used for decision-making.
- Work across organizations and directly with partners both in Office and across Microsoft including other engineers and product leaders.

Microsoft conducts Off campus Recruitment drives in India and the process typically involves 3-4 rounds.
Written Test :
To begin with, there is a written test that assesses the candidate’s coding skills, data structures and algorithms knowledge. I think this round is more of an elimination round and only the top performers shortlisted for the next rounds.
Technical Interview Round :
written test is followed by a technical interview round where the candidate’s problem solving abilities are put to test through a series of coding questions. I prefer to call this round as the “make or break” round as it separates the wheat from the chaff.
HR Interview :
The most crucial round is the HR interview where the candidate’s communication skills, leadership potential and cultural fitment are evaluated. I don’t think technical skills alone are sufficient to crack the Microsoft interview process. I believe, a candidate must also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and a growth mindset to impress the interviewers.
Final round Interview :
The final round is a senior leadership interview where the candidate interacts with a VP or a Director level executive. I think this round is more of a “final stamp of approval” where the executive assesses if the candidate has the potential to grow into a future leader at Microsoft. I must say, this round is more of a formality if the candidate has performed well in the previous rounds.
The entire process typically takes around 2-3 weeks from the written test to the final round. I like it when companies like Microsoft are upfront about the interview process and provide timely feedback to the candidates.
